Nominations for the Village of Elnora general election will be open between January 1, 2021 to September 20, 2021 at 12PM. If you are interested in becoming a candidate for the Elnora Village Council, please review A Candidates Guide: Running for Municipal Office in Alberta. This guide will provide you with vital information regarding legislative requirements, candidate qualifications, the roles and responsibilities of an Elected Official, and the nomination process. A letter to Potential Candidates has been provided by the Village of Elnora. Please read for a quick overview of the steps and requirements need to run for municipal office. Vital information noted within the letter includes in-camera council discussions, pecuniary interest for Councillors, and the Village of Elnora 2020 Organizational minutes.
Candidates will need to fill out Form 4, Nomination Paper and Candidates Acceptance, along with Form 5, Candadates Financial information to run for Council. If you have trouble printing these forms, the forms can also be found at Alberta.ca or a Council Nomination Packet can be obtained at the Village Office.
The Nomination forms will need to be signed by a Commisisoner of Oaths, available at the Village Office, and recieved by the Returning Officer by September 20, 2021 at 12PM at the Village Office located at 219 Main Street.
Elections will be held on October 18, 2021 if there are more candidates then positions available. At that time, a Notice of Elections will be advertised in the Advance, at the village office, and on the village website.
Voters will be required to provide proof of their name and home address to vote in the Village of Elnora Elections. If you are unsure if you are eligible to vote, please see voter identification requirements.
Please note that all candidates will be required to follow Alberta Health regulations while they are campaigning.
